When I was in 7th grade we had to keep a reading journal and had a year-long assignment to read and report on at least 20 books. The year started out slow with short, young-adult type books but then it happened…I found a book in the hallway after school. It was a big book, more than 300 pages. Holy cow! I thought. I would never be able to read a book that big, it would take me forever! That book was Petals on the Wind by V.C. Andrews and I read it cover to cover. I was so proud of myself and so excited to read the rest of the books in the series that I begged my mom to take me to the bookstore and buy them for me. Since then I have had a long-time love affair with books.
I read over 30 books that year and since then I have had a long-time love affair with books. Until just recently that is. In the past few years I’ve only read about 3 or 4 books total. Sure I’ve read lots of business and blogging books but not too many “real” books. I want to change that right now. So far I only have 9 books on my reading list but I’m hoping to read 16 total for 2016.
I just recently saw the first Hungar Games movie. I didn’t think I would like it but it was really good and I want to read that and the other two books in the series before I watch the other movies. So these are the top three on my list.
The Hunger Games (Book 1) Currently reading
The rest of the books are in random order.
To Kill a Mockingbird has always been one of my favorite books and movies so, even though I’ve heard mixed reviews of Go Set a Watchman I still want to read it for myself. My friend Julie posted a great review of this book on her blog, Julies Lifestyle.
Dean Koontz is my all time favorite author of all time! He has the ability to suck you in before you’re on page five and he holds you there, on the edge of your seat, until the very last page. I’ve stayed up way too late and gotten up super early to read his books and I’ve read almost every one of them.
Can you recommend a good book I should add to my list?
