Even though our family is of Italian Heritage, St. Patrick’s Day is my daughters birthday so it’s pretty special to us. She recently moved to a new apartment and I wanted to make her something special to hang up for the holiday. That’s when I received these great products from Oriental Trading.
- Shamrock Wreath Craft Kit (#IN-48/141)(Makes 12)
- DIY Unfinished Wood Shamrock Ornament (#IN-13757815)(Dozen)
- Acrylic Paint – Green
- 12-x-12 Canvas
- Embossing powder, ink & gun
- Craft Glue
After gathering all the supplies together, the first thing I did was draw out the stripes on the canvas and paint them green. The stripes look a little messy in this picture but the shamrocks covered up most of it so it’s okay 😉
I used my Snowflake, Whispers’ Glitter Embossing Powder to emboss the wooden shamrocks. I made two of everything because ended up making two wreaths, one with a plain white canvas and one with the stripes.
If you’ve never tried heat embossing something it’s really cool and you should give it a try. I’m kind of addicted and once I get started I want to emboss everything.
Next, I assembled the Pots O’ Gold. The hardest part was tying the ribbon but I used my small stapler to hold it in place and then I tied it off to the side. Then all that was left was to glue the gold glitter and the buttons. I also added a green button to the embossed shamrocks to cover up the small hole at the top.
I really like the plain white canvas and my daughter loves the one with the stripes, which is your favorite?
In case you’re looking for the tutorial, there wasn’t an overwhelming response last week and I’ve decided against making the how-to printable for all the Craft/DIY posts.
Thanks again to Oriental Trading for these great products!
