My Word for 2018

Word of the year 2018 | the Krafty Owl

In 2011 I began a tradition of choosing one word for myself each January – a word that I can focus on, meditate on, and reflect upon as I go about my daily life. Some of my words have included strength, brave, calm, smile, create and patience.

These words have each become a part of my life in one way or another. They’ve been embedded into who I am, and into who I am becoming. They’ve been what I’ve needed and what I didn’t know I needed. They have helped me to breathe deeper, to see clearer and to grow.

2017 in Review

Last year was particularly difficult for many reasons. One of which was that in June I started having panic attacks that led a bit of a breakdown. My daughter was having some personal problems that I needed to help her with, my mother was in and out of the hospital, I just started a new job and I’d stopped talking to the most perfect man ever (due to major differences in opinion). I was overwhelmed. Everything was crumbling around me and I couldn’t see a way out. Thankfully, doctors were able to help and I haven’t had a panic attack since mid-September.

My Word for 2018

Thrive Word of the year 2018 | the Krafty Owl

Sometimes you just know what your word is going to be…or, needs to be, I should say. After last year, I know that I need to thrive in every aspect of my life. I know that I need to combine all of the knowledge and skills that I’ve learned over time and produce a thriving life and business.

If you’ve ever experienced any form of depression, you know it can seem like all you want to do is sleep or find something to distract you from your problems. It can seem like you’re bearly surviving let alone living. Now, it’s time for me to stop worrying about everyone and everything and start to take care of myself. I don’t want to just survive, I want to thrive and I will!
