One of the most important things you can do when you start a blog is write a great About Me page. It’s the place your readers go to find out more about you and your blog. Its bound to be one of the most highly viewed pages and will leave a lasting impression with new and returning readers.
Creating a great About Me page requires certain elements, and today, I’m going to go over each of them with you so you can get the biggest benefit from this important page.
Start out by introducing yourself and welcoming your readers. It’s a good idea to include a picture of you but it’s even better if you use a picture of your entire family. This will help create a connection between you and your reader.
All About You
Tell your readers about yourself. Where you live, about your family, what your day job is, etc. You can also include a list of random facts about you.
About Your Blog
Share your blogging story. What do you blog about and why do you love it. Give your readers some information about why you started blogging and when. Is there a special meaning behind the name of your blog, this is the place to share it with your readers.
Readers Favorite Posts
If you’ve been blogging for a while you will know that your readers love certain posts more than others. Those are the posts you want to feature. Link back to 4-6 of your top posts. Including a picture from one or two of them is also a good idea.
Your Favorite Posts
Most of the time the posts you like the best are not always the ones your readers will think are the best. Just like in the readers favorites section, include links to 4-6 of your favorite posts and add in a couple of the best pictures.
If you want to include a list a random facts about yourself, now is the time. Some examples include:
- Who is your celebrity crush?
- Have you ever met anyone famous?
- What are you currently obsessing over?
- Do you play an instrument?
- Do you have a special talent?
- What is your favorite food?
- I love my _____!
- How many siblings do you have?
Say thank you and give your readers some information on how to contact you. It’s also a good idea to include your subscription buttons so they can follow you in the way they choose.
